saw: Star Wars I, II, III These were produced AFTER Star Wars IV, V, VI, and supposedly provide a backdrop answering the question why Darth Vader is evil, etc. Part I (Phantom Menace) introduces many intriguing characters, II (Attack of the Clones) is mainly fighting, and holds parts I and III together, and III (Revenge of the Sith) brings the story up to the point where it can connect to IV (New Hope)--the first of the old three films. This series is of course imaginative, is strong in its presentation of the themes of light v darkness, and introduces such concepts as The Force. One can easily George Lucas being influenced by Christian ideas, although one wonders if a bit of Buddhism is thrown in as well. Characters Jar-Jar Binks, Yoda, Jabba, and so on make for a memorable experience, and the fight sequences probably netted the Star Wars franchise a lot in action figures and video games. The deeper Spiritual themes are also illustrated in the Lord of Rings and Narnia series, especially in the books, but also in the films.
