so if it is not Jesus, who is the rider of the white horse? this person is no other than the Antichrist. the word anti, if you look up in a dictionary means not only against, but could also mean in place of or in substitution. He is therefore, not only against Christ, but craftily and deceptively imitates Jesus, riding a white horse. the Messiah predicted the rise of this impostor and deceiver in Jn. 5:43-47. He will appear on scene as though a PEACEMAKER, a bringer of FALSE PEACE, 1 Thess. 5:3. according to Dan. 9:26-27, one of the antichrists first moves will be to find a solution to the Arab-Israeli dispute by making a peace treaty with the Jews, which will start the Tribulation period. the antichrist will have a BOW, but NO ARROWS. this means he uses diplomacy to bring initial peace, and gains victory without bloodshed. and he is successful--peace isnt taken away until the second seal is opened. the kind of peace he offers therefore, is only short-lived. he is GIVEN a crown. crown here is the stefanos or victors crown (not the diademos or kingly crown). this means he is victoriously successful in his efforts, but only for a short while, as we will later see.
