thanks for all the well wishes. so blessed. one struck me in particular: the yearly call I receive today from one of my first clients at sanctuary right after leaving the DAs office to do domestic violence work full-time, she calls me every year since 2001, she always wishes me well and says: we will never forget you and I too will never forget her or her sons who are now men... why do we do this work? with the poor, marginalized, indigent, accused or victimized? to make a difference in peoples lives...every year she gives me the best gift of reminding me why i am so proud to be a poor persons lawyer, an advocate for those with no voice, a justice defender…thank you R for remembering me and inspiring me to keep on trying to make the world a better place...
