the sweet,warm fragarances of summer, blowing in the breeze are behind us for another year. the cooler fall breezes , with its equally fragrant smells are upon us once again. the changes of the seasons in this part of the world are unique, each one having their own differences. the change is more subtle in other parts of the globe, here in the northern hemispere in north america, there is no disputing the change, nothing subtle at all..the sights, sounds, smells all unique to each season, not to forget the tempatures. not far off in the future, the mercury will dip below zero, freezing the earth, the water, and it will be covered with blankets of snow. the temps will stay below zero for a few months, and the land will seem to sleep till the spring happens once again. only the heartiest of birds, mammals and humans seem to survive the winter in the north. this is the homeland of the anishinabe and dakota, more commonly knowen as the chippewa and sioux, who lived and survived these extremes since the last ice age. they knew how to survive, they knew the extremes, they knew the young, old, sickly, and weak may be lost through the winter, they understood the life cycles of the seasons and the earth. which does bring real meaning to the saying, only the strong will survive, luckily, my bloodline, was strong enough to survive. we seem to take this for granted in present time, with all the modern technology, heating, cooling, transportation, etc... which is nice, but, at what cost? anyway, make what you will of this rant, and carry on! think well of yourself and all others, even the plants, birds, rocks and things. sounds like a line from an old song, and it is, sleep kind of reminds me of roseanne roseanna dana from the old saturday night live never mind, lol well
