this message on YouTube gave me Chills: read it for yourself, by Ankur Gahlot: Hi Varun! I had seen your social experiment video on nirbhaya and i did not believe it and i thought that this was something that you were doing to spice up your career and that people are helpful in our country(i assumed this based on the ppl i am surrounded with) but what happened today with me chilled me and just struck like a harsh freakin reality. So, here is the complete story: I stay in faridabad and went to gurgaon to meet a friend of mine in the morning and its a nice saturday morning(holiday), while i was returning from gurgaon, there was an accident on one of the road(the road that has the mercedes showroom, i think its sec 56 road but not sure), so when i was passing the auto rickshaw had been hit from behind that the auto wala was lying on the road and there was clearly visible blood from his head/mouth/hand. and its good 9 in the morning . There were atleast 15 cars if not more that were standing still(endeavour/crv/honda city, i believe all of these are decently paid corporate working employees and its saturday ) and there was traffic police and atleast 50 people near the poor auto wala guy and no one and absolutely no one was helping! it just shocked me and i became numb for good 10 seconds or so because i just did not understand what was happening. Afterwards I myself took the guy, he was a well built guy atleast 80 kgs and completely unconscious but i was trying my level best, after this finally came couple of more auto guys to atleast get him in the car. Now, i am not a very frequent gurgaon visitor and hence i didnt know the nearest hospital, i asked a few decently looking people to atleast sit in the car with me to take the poor chap to the hospital but no one was willing to sit in the car only. By now the traffic cops had also arrived and i asked them to atleast sit in the car to take me to the nearest hospital and guess what happened, he wanted me to take my car to any place but here, he did not sit, he did not guide heck he did not even control the traffic that had piled up behind. I had to literally fold my hands in front of other car drivers to atleast take their car somewhere else so that i can take the guy to hospital. finally we reached hospital and admitted him. But now i can see the stark similarity between your video and what happened today. It was saturday morning, no one can even say that they had office or were busy or blah blah, its pure, plain and simple apathy that we have inbuilt in our system, be it a common man or police. I dont even know how to express what i feel. All i can say is that please let me know if I can be any assistance to you or your team or someone that you know who is working on those lines, so that I can atleast offer my best and not be just another of those guys who stand and watch. and are just their for the viewing, that was pure and utter sick of the so called high profile gurgaon ppl.
