this summer my job shifted a bit so I now spend two mornings a week at the Peabody Institute, an old music conservatory (dedicated in 1866). I havent done a lot of exploring yet, but today I went back into part of the library with a librarian looking for some student records from the 90s. All kinds of stuff is just sitting around in there. Ive never seen actual Edison recordings but I picked them up and held them. Both cylinders (sitting in an old cardboard box) and a thick wax recording disc. I think I need to do more poking around this place!
