youtube/watch?v=vGvDCmuDKKE MOVIE CLIP OF THE DAY - Lost in Translation (2003) I was looking around trying to find a Joan Rivers clip but couldnt find Spaceballs, so heres a scene from Sophia Coppolas wonderful classic Lost in Translation. A film that features both Scarlett Johanssons and Bill Murrays best performances. An immaculate Oscar-winning script that knows no bounds of poignancy, sadness, joy and complexity (much like real life). Lost in Translation is perhaps as close as the movies have ever come to capturing that (magical) fine line between art and life. During this scene alone (which is among my all-time favorites), one can practically feel the crystalline chemistry between the two leads. Little affectation is given as Coppola allows her talent to have the reigns, finding the right energy and excitement that falls somewhere between the solemn and the sublime. This is one unforgettable film that can be watched at any age of life, and one you will carry with you long after youve left the theater. Some of us want to find ourselves, others freely roam and some may appear lost. However, we are all on a journey; headed towards a singular unknown destination. Lets hope that the lives of those we touch on our journey infuse our destiny with the right ingredients to make a wonderful bliss stew. Anyone who has loved knows that that oneness felt is a path to immortality. Sophia Coppola is an immortal film maker because she dares to dream big where other artists cringe in fear. And it perhaps doesnt hurt to come from movie blood. (P.S.: R.I.P. Joan Rivers, Im sure she loved this movie. Shell be missed at the Oscars next year).
