A historical book about Woodbury, from tomorrows Barbara Bedell column: One of the newest books to roll off of the Arcadia Publishing Company’s press is titled “Woodbury, Orange County.” It will be the subject of a talk at Saturday’s 2 p.m. meeting of the Woodbury Historical Society at the Woodbury Senior Center on Route 105 in Highland Mills. It will be given by Sheila Conroy, a former town supervisor, who co-authored the soft-cover “Images of America” picture book with Nancy Simpson, a retired teacher. Conroy and Simpson, longtime friends and members of the society, gathered photos and copy and worked together for hours digging through dusty files and setting up interviews with people who were essential to the local history content. At the time the two started working on the project it was believed that Simpson was in and out of remission with the cancer that finally took her life a year after the project began. Conroy was dedicated to completing the book as a tribute to her friend and in dedication to the Society. Copies of the autographed book will be available for $23.78, cash or check only.
