A message to my non-paramedic Facebook friends. You have been very patient with my repeated posts about ambulance issues over the last two and half years. I would never have though our dispute would end up being the longest running industrial dispute in Victorias history. During that time the Liberal Government have repeatedly and knowingly lied about paramedics, they have spent around half a million of tax payers money in a newspaper campaign to denigrate paramedics, their chief negotiator was caught out cheating by producing fake documents and had to be sacked, and I could go on... Ambulance response times are the worst ever under the Liberal government!!!! Lives are being put at risk and you would have noticed that there are stories in the media on a very frequent basis of ambulances arriving much too late to critical cases. NOTHING has been done to fix this CRISIS. In fact they wont even admit it! On the other hand Labor have released their policy and it has some fantastic initiatives. They have vowed to END the WAR on paramedics and on the very first day of taking office (if they do so) they will sign the paperwork to allow us to take our case to arbitration in Fairwork. Thats what we have asked for for two and half years! There are also many other aspects of the Labor policy that would make significant improvements to the ambulance service. On the other hand the Liberals seem to have no plans at all, despite exit polls at early voting centres indicating that ambulance is the number one most important issue that people are voting on. They have completely failed to reduce response times over their 4 year term of office. Paramedics have taken the position of trying not to align with any particular party or to tell people who they should vote for. Rather we are recommending who you SHOULDNT vote for. We recommend that you PUT THE LIBERALS LAST since this is where they have put you by failing to provide an efficient ambulance service. VOTE TO FIX THE AMBULANCE CRISIS. PUT THE LIBERALS LAST
