A sign of the times: Ten years ago the digital units of most major news organizations were one or two seasoned veterans and working with two or three geeky little techies so reliant on spell check that they were the stuff of jokes. They were generally tucked away in a corner of a newsroom or even banished to a remote t-9 connection, where they begged for a few lines of copy and access to the third photo from a shoot. Today, they are in the center of the newsroom and more times than not, the first to be fed, sending out content real-time. Friends who once fit that description at CNN just got new digs complete with balcony access. Survivors of the digital age, Good Deal!
