ANDERSON COOPER, A HERO IN HAITI? I have no problem with the act of Mr. Cooper as an individual, but as a journalist in the mainstream media what would be more helpful is for him to use his platform to explain to the world the context of his action. No doubt he will provide a linear, static explanation about the immediate scene outside of a historical context. Yet that context is absolutely vital to understand the scene because that broader dynamics is far more important. Therefore for us to fully appreciate Mr. Coopers heroism in Haiti, he could let us know the real historical condition of the situation and the role of the US ruling elites in creating it--what appears to be his heroism. Haiti is a occupied country in which the peoples influence are curtained by force, so without an explanation of the context Mr. Coopers action must be viewed as contrived.
