ANIMAL WELFARE IN NV HAS TAKEN A HUGE STEP BACKWARDS....In a final crushing blow to animals in NV, the new Assembly Speaker for the next legislative session, Ira Hansen (fur trapper & voted AGAINST Cooneys Law) has named John Ellison of Elko the new Chair of the Assembly Natural Resources, Agriculture and Mining Committee. Ellison also voted AGAINST Cooneys Law (felony animal cruelty). Again, we wonder if, in light of the Jason Brown case in Northern NV and the fact that the FBI considers heinous animal cruelty a TOP TIER FELONY, Ellison still agrees with his Nay vote on Cooneys law? Brown is charged with 7 FELONY counts of animal cruelty under Cooneys law for dismembering and beheading dogs. rgj/story/news/crime/2014/10/16/protest-planned-reno-dog-killing-status-hearing/17350599/ For those not aware, all animal bills must get a hearing in the natural resources committees in the Assembly & Senate in order to have a chance of progressing to the next step of becoming a bill. Committee chairs who dont like a bill wont give it a hearing by the deadline and the bill dies. Elections have consequences and based on past actions of some of the new leadership (with the exception of Roberson) animals will pay the price. We pray we are wrong. reviewjournal/news/nevada/hansen-names-nevada-assembly-chairs
