After a visit to a burger place that was apparently the best in KL - TopicsExpress

After a visit to a burger place that was apparently the best in KL left me highly disappointed, I descended into a deep, dark funk that saw me refuse to even leave the house for several days. I was suddenly given new hope following a positive review from another group member for a burger procured just across the water in Kota Kinabalu. I figured if they could throw together a decent burger in Borneo, there must be something passable on the Peninsular. I decided to pull on my burger-hunting brogues and renew my search at the well rated Killer Gourmet Burger (KGB) in the trendy, expat friendly suburb of Bangsar. After a quick review of their menu I decided to start with one of their signature choices; the KGB Kicker. At first glance it looked satisfactorily edible; a fact confirmed once I began to devour my meal in all its burger-y goodness. The patty was juicy and well seasoned, the beef bacon was crispy and surprisingly not shit at all, and the bun melted in my mouth without the sugary aftertaste and urge to purge associated with a Big Mac. The spicy sauce was a little lacklustre, but that may be because Ive been consisting on a diet of mostly Indian food that has rendered me immune to anything but the hottest curry. I feel the branding on the bun is a lovely touch that sets this place apart. I ordered a side of herbed chips which were crisp and delicious, their only flaw being the lack of herb-to-chip adhesion they achieve at places like Grilld. Id give both the burger and chips a solid 3.75, only because I know some members have ridiculously high standards and my meal wasnt as refined as what youd find in the burger-loving Western world. Id give the crew here an A for effort.
