Alecia: Why cant we walk together? I ran across this Walking Contest video last year and it meant something to me. As I started watching it, PATH to the Cures purpose immediately came to mind so I knew I wanted to post it this year. Our suggestion and encouragement is for ALL to participate in our event, not by rushing forward trying to outrace an invisible foe, but by being always responsive and sensitive, honoring the human pace of each woman and man touched. There are some who come to support by standing on the sidelines along the route holding up encouraging signs and cheering as the event participants go by or maybe by volunteering their time and talents on event day. And then there are those who come because this event deeply means something, as their lives have somehow been touched by breast cancer. It is important to create an environment of honor to those who come with the deepest purpose and meaning which is why we ask all of you to Raise your Hearts when the last walker arrives home. So...this event is not meant as a competition; it is meant to bring community together with a unified purpose and spirit. Lets walk together. There are no strangers to compete with in our community.
