All of them drive me to distraction but usually tell me something about the regard that someone has for the written word. I also absolutely cringe at the overuse and incorrect use of icon. When last in the classroom, I was taught that it was a small religious painting, usually of the Renaissance or Medieval period. Mad is an animal foaming at the mouth or an unfortunate person who is or needs to be institutionalized not when someone is angry. You can be both simultaneously. Done is another word incorrectly used all too often. Bread is done but I am finished with a meal or have completed a task. The worst and newer misuse today is no Problem instead of youre welcome. My pleasure is a far better response than the unthoughtful no problem. While an action might have been no problem for a person to accommodate, Youre Welcome is a far more polite answer to a Thank you. (stepping carefully down from my soap box). I abhor the mangling of our language but yet Im certain each generation has their own quibbles with sloppy language.
