All things made to be destroyed, all moments meant to pass. Last year, I wrote a nice sentimental post for the new year and with writing being a thing, gonna make it a tradition. 2014 might go down as one of the best years of my life. My life took some extraordinary turns for the better. Saw some amazing things, made some great decisions and, looking back, Im incredibly happy with how everything fell together. Being in Brazil, at a World Cup, was life changing. Being at that USA-Ghana match is a milestone. Not only have my experiences made me a better person, but its helped me surround myself with some wonderful people. Doing things that have importance to me has not only made millions of memories, but brought better people into my life. And if 2014 taught me anything, its that personal happiness is something to pursue, not to hope for. Whatever I do, I never want to say that I regret it. You have little-to-zero control over the decisions others are going to make or what your decisions or actions will do to influence their need for you. In almost every case, the people who decided I wasnt needed were the worst, most inconsequential parts of my world. Realizing that whether or not you mean something of value to someone is not always your responsibility, nor is it something your actions may even influence, is incredibly liberating. Being true to yourself will always bring out the best in you and your life. I absolutely love where Im at as a person and its because of the decisions Ive made and the experiences Ive had. Being able to appreciate and grow from the things that happen to you makes everything more worthwhile. Moments come and go, friendships come and go, relationships come and go... jobs come and go... and thats how it works. All things made to be destroyed, all moments meant to pass. As much as change and loss can be disappointing or frightening, its easy to sleep when you end up ahead as a person. 2014 was very good to me, and Im really excited to see what brave new world lies ahead.
