Alright... So I talked it over with a couple friends who are carb cycling with me, and theyre encouraging me to start a food accountability group October 1st! Can you imagine: Weight LOSS during the holidays??? 10/1/14 is one of those weird days that falls on a Wednesday, so if youre one of those people who does best starting on a Monday, then we can surely start two days earlier! ;) Ive been putting thought into this and at first I was going to open it up to as many people as possible and then I decided that Ill limit the first group to 20 people; the smaller the number, the more personal we can get. I like exclusivity! :) Like Ive mentioned before, I not a nutritionist and Im no guru, Im simply a person who has struggled for 20 years with my weight, and Ive had success the last 18 months because Ive surrounded myself with a great support system. A support system filled with other women (and some men) who have been heavy for many years, who are addicted to sugar, who emotionally eat, but mostly, its a support system of people who WANT TO CHANGE too! There will be a couple stipulations to join the group: 1. Are you DEDICATED? Are you ready to change? For YEARS I said. next Monday and many Mondays came and went without any change! Why now? 2. Its important that you drink water!!! Can you drink half your body weight in ounces everyday? What I mean is, if you weigh 150 pounds, can you drink 75 ounces of water a day? NOT coffee (but yes, you can still have it), NOT sweet tea, NOT soda......Im talking good ole WATER!!! 80% (or so) of your body is comprised of water and its important to flush it out and keep it hydrated everyday! If you feel like youre addicted to soda, sweet tea, etc. lets talk! Its been statistically proven that breaking the sugar addiction is harder than breaking an addiction to cocaine! COCAINE?!?!?!?! : I 3. Are you willing to keep a food journal? Yep, this is where the good, the bad and the ugly is all laid out....but HONESTLY tracking your food makes you accountable for your actions. When I eat a truffle, Ill be telling you that I ate a truffle. Why lie. Also, Im not asking you to carry around measuring cups and scales, we can easily eyeball food and say, I ate two handfuls of spinach or I had a palm size portion of chicken. 4. Are you willing to food prep? In order to be successful in any plan you choose, preparedness is essential! Packing snacks and having dinner planned in your head (or on paper) will help prevent you from failing! My friends and I will be following Chris Powells Carb Cycling plan and I encourage you to do so also. This isnt a deal breaker for the food accountability group, but it will be easier to follow, as we will be sharing recipes, snacks and tips! For those that dont know, Chris Powell is that handsome fellow on ABCs Extreme Weight Loss show. I know, yeah yeah yeah, the people that go on this show have personal chefs and trainers available to them any time of day, but the logic behind his CARB CYCLING is spot on! I tell you this, Ive tried it all: Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, and Slim Fast; not to mention, Ive been on doctor prescribed phentermine and over the counter ephedra when it was legal in the U.S. So yeah, Ive tried a lot and NOTHING has proven HEALTHY results like carb cycling has in ONE month! I was chatting with a woman recently and when I brought up carb cycling she immediately equated it with the Atkins diet. I was like “NO, NO, NO…absolutely not!” The Atkins Diet wants you to wake up every day, cook up a pack bacon, fry up four eggs in the bacon grease and then go about your day. UGH—NO THANK YOU! Can you say “HOLY CHOLESTEROL?” What Carb Cycling does, is it allows you to pick a routine that works for you… If you’re super disciplined and want fast results you follow The TURBO plan (2 low carb days followed by 1 high carb day). And maybe you’re the kind of person that is just starting out and is addicted to carbs still, for you I’d recommend The CLASSIC plan (alternating 1 low carb day with 1 high carb day). Whichever plan you choose, get ready for CHANGE!!! Every plan insists that you eat protein and veggies everyday, and on the high carb days you can eat fruit and grains! It’s simple, it’s easy and IT WORKS! Im not going to tell you what to eat or how to live your life. Im not going to get mad at you if you slip up and have a bad day. YOURE HUMAN. What I do want to do is be a support system for you along this journey so that you dont feel alone! I will encourage you on days youre struggling and applaud you on the days you have success! Again, Ive had success and change in the last year because I have a awesome husband (a skinny husband) and great friends that love, motivate and encourage me to be great! So if youre ready to change your life feel free to LIKE this post or comment below, but also private message me here and answer these questions: 1. WHY NOW? WHY are you ready to change? 2.Can you drink the necessary water everyday OR at least try to get close to the amount? 3. Are you willing to keep a food journal and share with others in the group? 4. Are you willing to food prep for success? 5. Will you be carb cycling? If not, which plan do you intend to follow? 6. What are your vices? (coffee, sugar, soda, pasta, bread, candy) What can you not live without?
