Amanda asks Hi everyone. For awhile now Ive been noticing some odd behavior in my son... Hes 3 1/2- and the sweetest most loving boy ever.. However, my little man has a terrible speech delay.. And I mean.. He says a couple words.. When I say it first. He has obsessions.. Opening and shutting doors, ceiling fans.. Light switches.. Phones.. Hes gotten better with eye contact, however it still seems like he struggles and finds it uncomfortable ... Hes starting to be evaluated for ASD. Austism.. Aspergers.. It breaks my heart because in so many ways he seems so normal.. Just a little delayed... Aside from that I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who excels way beyond her age range.. Her speech is about a 5 year olds!!!! Can anyone give me advice on dealing with these crazy meltdowns he has.. Activities I can do to help him.. How can I help calm his brain down to sit with me and look at a book?... I never wanted to admit autism.. Because I feel like a compete failure... But my little boy deserves every single second of help. Hes been seen by EarlY on.. And he goes to school half days 3 days a week.. And thats starting to help him socially.. He finally acknowledges and plays with his sister.. And hes FINALLY pretend playing.. I just need a little hope and advice I guess.. Im a young mom.. And I work and just got a corrections degree... And Im trying so so hard for these kids... And Im breaking down.. I want him to have a normal life and a family and friends!!
