An interview with Native Artist Linda Lomahaftewa! #SFIM14 1. Name: Linda Lomahaftewa 2. SWAIA booth # 108 POG (this location is under the portal, Palace of the Governors) 3. Tribal affiliation: Hopi-Choctaw 4: Where do you live and work: I live in Santa Fe, NM 5. How many years have you shown your work at Indian Market? I dont remember exactly when I started showing at market, in the 80s so I figure Ive been showing at mkt. for about 35 years. 6. Awards, citations or past projects?I have received a few awards, my most recent was at the Heard Fair 2014, First place in printmaking. 7. How did you learn, or become interested in making art,? Education? At what age did you start?I have been interested in making art since I was 5years old. 8. What are you working on currently? My most current theme that I have been working on have been about my Choctaw heritage, and the SE Mound culture. 9. What about your art is the most important to you? What is most important about making art is it is who I am, I dont know what I would do if I couldnt make art. 10. What in your life are you proudest of ? I would have to say that I am proud to have come from a family who has always been there to support me, from my Grand Parents, my Mother and Father, Sister and Brothers, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, my Son and Daughter, and my Grand Children. facebook/linda.lomahaftewa
