And Australia says it would ban such publications. Good. I personally think that with freedom of expression comes a responsibility to be conscious of the repercussions of ones right to free speech. Which brings me to the crux of my post. Why cant extremist Muslims ask themselves how come Christians dont go on shooting spree when vile things are said about Jesus? You cant keep killing people whenever they make fun of your beliefs and not expect a backlash from moderate humans. It doesnt work that way. We live in a civilised world now and barbarism has got to stop. Well, Charlie Hebdo, with their latest edition, are saying they cannot be silenced. Meanwhile, 2 nights ago, I came across a thread where someone said Islam is a religion of peace in caution to a certain Eses tirade and I was taken aback by the retort of one Muslim commentator: show me in the Quaran where it says Islam is a religion of peace. It is not. Now, such narratives leave people confused. And worse, makes tolerance almost inachievable. I mean, Id be sceptical of anyone who tells me openly that his religion isnt one of peace. It is now left to moderate Muslims to show that these extremists are just nitwits rather than kicking when others call their religion one which promotes violence. Such barbarism isnt sustainable in todays world, abeg.
