As I have been steadily approaching my graduation date, I have not - TopicsExpress

As I have been steadily approaching my graduation date, I have not felt the relief and exhilaration that I experienced when I got my first degree. I couldnt figure out why, but I think I may have put my finger on why I was uneasy. My anxiety arises from the field I am entering. I mean, in most career paths, most people start in the same place. They know what they learned in class. Thats where everyone else started. But in the computer field, there is a lot of computer nerds (and I use that term with love) flooding the market. They have been playing and futzing and fiddling with computers for years, for fun. Their knowledge of computers is expanded by their passion for the topic. Someone like me, who knows pretty much what I learned in class... What chance do I have against them? A dental hygienist can enter the job market confident that they are on an even footing with their co- job seekers. I mean, there arent a lot of dental hygiene nerds out there. But what chance do I have against the people who write mods for video games and correct their own connectivity issues. Thats why Ive been less than confident going forward. I want to make one thing perfectly clear: This is NOT an appeal for attention or support or any of that other stuff. Im not looking for any dont sell yourself shorts or I have faith in yous. Im not looking for advice. Im just getting my thoughts out of my head.
