As I sit in my room and pack my life away, Im reminded that the age-old cliche is true: time flies. Absolutely floored and amazed by the love and support Ive received over the years as I worked toward my B.A. (Although, to be completely honest, I think I put maybe 80% of my efforts into my extracurriculars and 20% into my schoolwork that actually counted toward said degree...) Like many Rice students, I racked up accomplishments that stacked neatly onto my resume. But the thing they dont necessarily tell you is how unimportant all of that is, because when you graduate, you wont miss accomplishments and grades. Instead, youll miss the wonderful little things, the routines that build up day after day and gradually aggregate into a collective sentiment that you will always associate with your time at Rice: eating meals every single day in the commons among friends as a respite from work, picking up coffee from coffeehouse, having friends so easily accessible because the Rice campus is so small, the walks to and from class among the prettiest oak trees in the world. The comfortable, beautiful routines are no more, and thats more depressing than anything. But right after Saturdays final meal in the Will Rice Commons with families, I took my mom to Southside Espresso and ran into two of my future colleagues at Deloitte - I couldnt help but smile at how symbolic it was to connect with them immediately after graduating from college. In the sadness of missing what is no more, we have to remember that the future is VERY bright and exciting :) In an effort to connect more with the real world, I will be avoiding Facebook over the course of the next few months. To get in touch with me, send me a message or email me at ronijc@gmail, but my responses will likely be spaced and sparse. Heres where Ill (roughly) be over the course of the next few months, so PLEASE get in touch with me if youll be in the same area and want to meet up!: May 22nd - May 31st: Peru (Lima --> Cusco) June 1st - June 14th: Bolivia (La Paz --> Cochabamba --> Santa Cruz) June 15th - July 8th: Brazil (Fortaleza --> Jericoacoara --> (???) --> Rio) July 9th - August 21st: New Jersey (lol) August 22nd - September 4th: Tanzania September 4th - September 6th: Dubai September - December: Based out of New Jersey, but will travel during those months January/February: Return to Houston to start work at Deloitte Anyway, guess I should start on that Senior Exit Survey...
