As Students Of the University Of Botswana, We Must Strongly Shame all those Members Of The SRC Who Misuse the Subvention Fund!! Before Giving You the Reasons why we should shame them,allow me to Explain what the Subvention Fund is. The University Of Botswana Subvention Fund is a Sum Of Money Allocated to the Students of the University of Botswana through the SRC by the Management To for the Smooth Running of all their Co-Curricular and Sporting Activities. This Fund is intended to allow Students To form and Run Clubs that Develop other Interests that Academics do not tend to serve as well as to to refresh them From the Tedious University Schedule. For Instance, Annually, Our Renowned Freshers ball is held, here,the intention is to afford students to Mingle and Prepare for the Academic Year.As a General Rule, the Entrance MUST be Free of charge because the Artist fees and Other Necessities are Covered For By The Subvention Fund.However Lately the Norm Has been That Students are being Charged Exorbitant Prices To such an Extent that Most do not attend. I submit that These Charges Serve No ones Interest apart From those Of Selfish SRC members. The Other 2 Examples are that SRC meetings are Usually Held Late In the Evening when Most Off campus Students Cannot attend,So the Subvention Fund Serves To Provide transport to those who wish to Attend and air their Views.This Is Not the Case in the Status quo,rather people Choose to host Birthday Parties with this Money when The Students need it Most.God is watching. The other example is that Clubs and Societies are usually required to Pay and Affiliation Fee of P500 every Year so that in return All their Fees are covered in the Event that they need to host certain Activities but because the current regime places its interests before those of the Students, they would rather Put lame excuses before the Students than allow them to benefit. The Reason why the SRC is refusing to Call A Student Body Meeting Is because they Know that Issues like this will Come up and the students will be Sensitized, that Is why they Blocked me from their Groups. Ditsala Tsame, it is time for us to Put our Political and Cultural differences aside and Focus On what is Best for Us, Schools Like BAC and BCA are Using these kind of resources very well,but us? LET US SHAME CORRUPT LEADERS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT SEEMS. PLEASE SHARE WITH AS MANY UB STUDENTS AS YOU CAN,SHOW YOU CARE.
