As long as were on the subject. Ill get on my soap box one more - TopicsExpress

As long as were on the subject. Ill get on my soap box one more time. Hopefully, this will be of some encouragement for the newer people. My biggest catalyst for going full volcano on somebody is: Almost any time I hear the word rule in photography. As in: the first rule of Architecture Photography, must use the Rule of Thirds, the two Rules of Landscape Photography. I silently scream on the inside and immediately start looking for a blunt object in subterfuge to use upon the offender. (I may have gone to far on the last sentence). Personal stance: There are NO rules in photography. There are guides, proven useful techniques, patterns of aesthetics, and so forth. Hell, the rule of thirds isnt even a real rule; its a mutated easy way for people to visualize Fibonaccis Ratio (you may know it as the Golden Mean). Last time I checked, Obama hasnt created a Department of Photography Enforcement yet. (Although, I wouldnt be surprised if it immediately happens after the NSA scans this post). Dont worry, the FBI isnt going to kick your door down and drag you to Quitmo because you didnt white balance, or you have a crooked horizon, our you shot at noon, or you like the structure slider. Relax people. Have fun with your photography. Really, the only thing that matters is if you like your photo; and if you try to sell, if your target patrons like it. So please enjoy your craft. And the next time you hear someone mutter rules on one of you next shoots, feel free to bludgeon them senselessly. I find the older metal Nikkor lenses work the best; but hey, no rules, right? (PS: please dont be violent with anyone. Dont forward this to your local law enforcement in belief Im inciting bullying or hate crimes against photographers. Dont hurt each other out there...unless someones breaking into your house...then hurt the crap out of them...but only enough to stop them...unless youre sure theres no witnesses...then do what you want with them...but I didnt tell you that...well I guess I just did...ah, never mind.)
