“Check the measure of sweetness [in your hearts] upon three - TopicsExpress

“Check the measure of sweetness [in your hearts] upon three [acts]: Reading #Quran; remembering the Divine; and prayer.” This ‘measure of sweetness’ is an internal barometer of how well we ‘actively’ exerted our hearts to remain vigilant against fraud, falsehood, injustice or treachery, as opposed to become resigned to accept them. This measure is the natural fruit of this inner clarity— even amidst our inability to practically do anything to ameliorate any wrong. Prayer is the daily barometer of our spiritual state. #Ramadan, the annual barometer. #Hajj is the barometer of our lifetime spiritual state at the time that we are enabled to make it. All acts of devotion and worship in #Islam provide us a personal vehicle to monitor our spiritual well-being and thus, to learn to take ‘active’ responsibility for our own state instead of blaming our inadequacy on any external or ancillary factors. بَلِ الإِنسَـنُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ - وَلَوْ أَلْقَى مَعَاذِيرَهُ “Truly, the human is a clear witness against himself, even if he puts forward excuses.” [Surah Qiyamah : 14-15]
