I remember when I was in high school the way to be healthy was to - TopicsExpress

I remember when I was in high school the way to be healthy was to be deathly thin. This was portrayed by models such as Kate Moss on the covers of Cosmo, Vogue etc. Now with the help of social media and the sudden influences of the #fitfam and competitive bodybuilding were now starting to relate 5% body fat (which btw isnt maintainable for long periods of time) to health, and having shredded abs. My question is while yes abs are fun and nice to look at, are we really portraying an image of health to those who dont know better, or better yet to the young kids, pre teens, teens etc of todays society? Or are we forcing the aforementioned to compare themselves and beat themselves up if they dont look a certain way? We all need to be fit and healthy in our own way and do what makes us happy doing, not because you feel its necessary to practice certain eating or workout habits in order to look like your favorite Instagram fitspo with hundreds of thousands of followers. When will we find a happy medium?
