Congratulations to the McGregor Greyhound Welfare Center on crossing the finish line in their quest to raise $38,000 to buy a new hauler for transporting adoptable Greyhounds to adoption groups in the U.S. and Canada. A challenge matching grant by GPA-Nashville of up to $15,000 inspired various GPA chapters, other adoption groups and individual volunteers to dig deep and contribute to the effort. This initiative is a classic example of how the unpaid volunteer adoption community in the U.S. continues to carry most of the financial freight of the Greyhound rehoming effort, while the organized racing community seems to have lost its checkbook, again. They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
