Crazy that the two most influential Mentors Ive ever had are born on the same day, both drummers of course. Art Blakley and the great Billy Higgins Billy personally put in a great deal of time with all the young Kats coming up in L.A. schooling us on life as well as music (Mostly Life and the lessons could be used to make you a better musician) . He was and most likely is still the most recorded Jazz drummer of all time playing on dozens of true classic Jazz recording. This is one of my favorites by Lee Morgan.. The simplicity of the open high hat is written in stone. His musicality is unmatched. His swing and groove is unquestionable.I loved this man and his smile and warm sharing heart..
