DATE: December 12, 2014 Incident Number: 538159 Marsh Grammar School - Minor Fire Press Release of Chief Joseph Solomon On Friday, December 12, 2014 at approximately 9: 40 a.m. School Resource Officer David Gardner radioed dispatch requesting Methuen Police and Fire Department to respond to the Marsh Grammar School on Pelham Street, for a fire on the second floor. A teacher had reported an emergency to the office resulting in School Resource Officer Gardner and a Custodian immediately responded to the location and observed a small fire in the a light fixture on the wall/ceiling area. Fire alarms were activated and all students and teachers safely and without incident evacuated from the school for a short time. Officer Gardner and the custodian were able to immediately extinguish this fire utilizing fire extinguishers. Methuen Fire Department responded per protocol to ensure the fire was extinguished and no further danger existed. All students were able to reenter the building after a short time.
