UMARIZ AKP HUKUMETI HATASINI BIR KERE DAHA ANLAMISDIR TURKISH FORUM YONETIM KURULU Press Release - September 20, 2014 FCTA welcomes the release of Turkish diplomats and their families after 100 Days held hostage in Iraq by ISIL militants The Federation of Canadian Turkish Associations (FCTA) and The Turkic Assembly of Canada (TAC) welcome the rescue of the Turkish diplomats and their families held hostage by the self-claimed Islamic State of Levant (ISIL) militants in Iraq since June 11, 2014, after 100 days, with the immense and extremely careful work of Turkish Intelligent and Armed Forces. We are very pleased that this successful operation was carried out without any single loss of life of these 49 Turkish and non-Turkish hostages. We, Canadians of Turkish origin, are also very proud of brevity and dignity maintained by all the hostages throughout the process, from the first day to the end. The hostages, 46 Turks and three non-Turkish personnel at the Mosul consulate, were seized during a sudden and unexpected advance of ISIL forces on June 11, 2014. FCTA offers best wishes to all the released hostages and their loved ones. Our congratulates go to the Turkish Special and Armed Forces on the success of this important mission, for handling such dangerous operation on their own.. FCTA condemns any form of terrorist activities anywhere in the world, for whatever reason, especially attacks on innocent civilians, as well as diplomatic missions and their families. We are all together in this, and have to act together to mitigate all the terrorism threats and risks we face all. FCTA also urges the people of Canada and all the people of democratic nations Worldwide, to join forces against global terrorism, if we are to succeed in protecting our collective democratic values, freedoms and rights from such threats.
