DREAMS BEYOND THE NIGHT ~ Prologue ~ Arrggggh! Bolade screamed out. He fumbled with his toes and blew some air into it. It appeared some fearful rats had feasted on his tiny toes. The rats must have had a good time as a few of them still lingered around the rotten table, peeping at their prey in utmost pity and hunger. The pain in Bolades toes soon subsided as images of where he was before he awoke danced past his senses. He had been there: surrounded by seven-winged angels and a harlem of fair maidens , dressed in a kingly robe, emeralds and gems littered his ankle and wrist- the extreme grandeur of a palace. The insignia plastered on his mace told tales he hadnt read of(though, an ardent lover of books). The writings appeared like they were in Hebrew caligraphy, or was it in Hindu? A rhythmic tap on his arm awoke him amidst an ocean of seeming impossible questions. You are a talented actor, man. Now, it is Azukas turn to play King Abysam. , said an old man with a bald head and crumpled gown. He sounded like a lost alien from Mars. Old man, what youre telling me now is to get off this seat? Bolade managed to mutter those words between his baritoned breath, now loose on a leeway. Yes. Your time is up. The old man seemed unruffled as his grey teeth rhymed with the beauty in his shaky voice. Never will I leave this place. Ive waited long for a day like this- when Ill be king. Ive been told a million times it is my destiny. The old man sighed, staring at the Bolade-king. He shook his head gently. Destiny... Destiny is decided by Providence. Not me, not you. Young man, times chariot wont be tied down for whatever reason, same as you cannot change the wheels else it glides into the dreaded valleys. I dont seem to understand all this... I... I.. He was interrupted by a jerk in his toes, and then.... Here he was in the mess of poverty where cockroaches painted the cracked and holed walls. In a slum! He ruminated on his dream, and he was appalled at his own behavior towards the old man. How could he behave so rudely? How? It was... a kind of theatrical setting, though. Or did the old man really lose his senses? It must be real. Suddenly, he remembered the seer he met earlier that day... and what he said. What he said... Was this it? He took his cell phone and dialed THE SEER. It rang, and an unfamiliar voice picked up. Yes, your excellency. How can I help you, please? That was the response from the other side of the phone.... His left his mouth open in utter confusion, and angst. This is not the seers voice, he mused, panting like a toddler running from a fire after the first encounter... What is this? WHAT IS IT??? Find out from the coming chapters of Dreams Beyond the Night.
