Dear colleagues, We would like to ask for your help and participation in an outreach project that is part of the 5th International Conference on Women in Physics, 2014. This is a joint project with the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. We hope you will take the time to respond to this email. Also, please forward this to any other physicists (researchers/students/professionals) who may be interested in participating. “Stories make us more alive, more human, more courageous, more loving.” – Madeleine L’Engle, author of A Wrinkle in Time We invite you to share a story that reflects your life in physics. Perhaps it’s a memory of the first scientific concept that sparked your curiosity, or a mentor who nourished your sense of wonder. It may be the story of a research breakthrough – or failure – and how it changed your thinking. It could be the story of a challenge you faced as a physicist, and how you overcame it. We welcome any story that conveys an experience or perspective that has shaped the scientist and person you have become. With your permission, we will share your story in a unique and engaging compilation during the conference and on a website that will be launched after the conference. Stories may also be presented anonymously if you prefer. Your story can be a short paragraph, a poem, a song, a video, a drawing, a letter or a longer essay. It is up to you! You can email your story by July 15, 2014 to: [email protected] or to [email protected] Or you can mail it to us: Shohini Ghose, Chair, ICWIP 2014 Wilfrid Laurier University 75 University Avenue West Waterloo, ON N2L 3C5 Canada Thank you for your participation!
