Dracula-Vostok, Newest of the Soul-Clones - This is a re-posting of a discussion I initiated on the Google version of this group in April of 2014 regarding what I proposed as a new soul-clone - Dracula-Vostok. He has since been incorporated into the Children of the Night Timeline, but his full history has yet to be fleshed out. Here is what I posted: This post has my preliminary and tentative theories regarding Dracula-Vostok. I propose that this is the soul-clone - now reformed from evil - who appeared in the the two Rankin-Bass animated monster films, Mad Monster Party? and its prequel Mad Mad Mad Monsters (before he reformed); and then in The Monster Squad TV series; and later as Count Vostok, ruler of Boldavia, in this episode of The Real Ghostbusters entitled 265 Transylvanian Homesick Blues (after he reformed; watch the ep on YouTube linked below if you havent already!). First of all, as far as Im concerned, after watching his crossover with the Ghostbusters, Count Vostok has a total lock on being the Dracula soul-clone from the Rankin-Bass films. That hooked beak-like nose, exaggerated Hungarian accent, and general mannerisms sealed the deal for me. Why did Dracula-Prime transform the wealthy Count Vostok into a soul-clone? When Boldavia became newly independent from Transylvania back in the mid-19th century, and the Vostok family were the richest and most politically connected citizens there - basically running the tiny nation - Dracula-Prime turned Count Pietro Vostok into a soul-clone to keep Boldavia and its strange treasures (including some surviving species of monstrous creatures) under his tooth and nail, so to speak. Dracula-Vostok served this purpose as a soul-clone quite well until circa 1967, when he was lost as a result of the explosive conclusion to the events depicted in Mad Monster Party? How he and Fang, the Frankenstein Monster copycat from the Rankin-Bass films, ended up as seemingly insensate (but not actually wax) exhibits in a monster museum is another story too lengthy to go into in this post, but its directly connected to a strange phenomenon of the WNU involving real monsters ending up as suspended exhibits in museums and carnivals, one which I will be adding to the Timeline and fully explaining soon (it may even be worth an article!). After being revived a few years later and joining the original Monster Squad, he reformed as a result of the side effect of the revival process knocking him free from Dracula-Primes control. After the original Monster Squad broke up, he returned to Europe and took back Boldavia, eventually buying a new castle there in the 1980s, when Dracula-Prime was indisposed for an entire decade due to the Montesi Formula. As revealed here, he had enough money to regularly acquire the rare and difficult to synthesize blood substitute that Dracula-Latos small clan of vampires, and a few others with the means and inclination, use to enable them to resist taking human or even animal blood. Those of less means, of course, have to stick to animal blood. Dracula-Vostok appears to have much of Dracula-Primes powers, thus suggesting that his lineage - like that of the Mordante and Danesti clans - may be branches of the Tepes genealogy. His statement about being the last of his kind was either apocryphal or a statement of misdirection, so the Ghostbusters wouldnt realize his connection to Dracula. His comment about Stokers novel being based on his familys conflicts with the Van Helsing family was an obvious white lie to deny a direct connection to Dracula-Primes family. Why didnt Dracula-Vostok have the monocle that he had in the Rankin-Bass productions? Simple... it got lost during the explosion of Baron Henry Von Frankensteins island. Note it wasnt present on Dracula in The Monster Squad TV series. Since vampires tend to have superlative vision, I think he only wore the monocle to look distinguished. Or out of a lingering habit from his human days leaking into Drac-Primes memory and personality implants. Note to David: We have another member of the Van Helsing clan for you to account for! And a rare member of the clan who is actually a villain, too, despite being a vampire hunter: Nikolas Van Helsing. Note that his branch of the family changed their last names to Heldon, probably to hide their relation to other branches of the Van Helsing clan. How he fits into the family tree is up to you, David, and calls for an update to your Van Helsing family tree. If anyone else has anything to add, youre greatly encouraged to do so! https://youtube/watch?v=mSEqZsi4Yn8
