Even amid the flurry and hoopla of a $5 million store grand opening in Henrietta on Wednesday, Tops Friendly Markets CEO Frank Curci cast his thoughts toward downtown Rochester. Tops, he said, is still in the downtown game, even with the announcement last week that an entrepreneur will open a 20,000-square-foot market in the citys East End. From what I understand, that will be a specialty market, Curci said. Downtown still needs a full-service market of the kind we have. Were still looking down there for the right location. But the proposed opening on East Avenue hasnt affected our commitment to the city, and that includes downtown.
