Every once in a while people ask me, "how did you learn to cook" "why do you like to cook" or "how did you make this?!" Here is the simple answer. Tonight i asked Shelby what she wanted for dinner, she replied with grilled cheese and tomato soup. Simple enough right? Well i made this a little differently on a whim. I sauteed some onion, fresh basil and garlic with olive oil and put Campbells tomato soup with milk after it cooked down and threw in fresh diced tomatoes. (thinking man she is going to hate this but i have to try) i cooked up her grilled cheese pretty basic but with a small sprinkle of shredded mozzarella to get some stringy bites. I served her the advanced version of what i would like.. So i went in the kitchen and made my grilled cheese and Shelby comes in and hugs my leg. She says " Daddy this is the best tomato soup ive ever had and the grilled cheese is really good. Thank you" and as she was walking away she said "i love you dad" This brought the most humbling feeling i think ive ever had. So if you want to ask why i cook, read this post. Love my little girl!
