Exodus Chapter 23 -- The laws continue in this chapter. Thou shalt not raise a false report, put not your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil, neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgement. Neither shall you countenance a poor man in his cause. If you see your enemys ox or ass going astray you shall bring it back to him. If you see the ass of him that hates thee lying under his burden you should help him. thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause. keep thee far from a false matter and the innocent and righteous slay thou not, for I will not justify the wicked. You shall not take a gift for the gift blindeth the wise and perverteth the words of the righteous. You should not oppress a stranger for you were oince strangers in Egypt. Six years you shall sow the land and shall gather in the fruits thereof and on the 7th you shall let it rest and lie still for the poor may eat and what they leave the beast of the field may eat. In this manner shall you deal with your vineyard and your oliveyard. Six days you shall do your work on the 7th you shall rest, so that thy ass, thy ox the son of thy handmaid and the stranger shall all be refreshed. Be circumspect in all things, do not mention the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth. Three feasts you shalt keep unto me in the year. The feast of the unleavened bread. The feast of the harvest, the first fruits of thy labours which you sown in the field and the feast of the ingathering at the end of the year when you gathered in thy labours out of the field. Three times in the year shall all your sons appear before the LORD your God. You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread and the fat of my sacrifice shall not remain until morning. The first of the firstfruits of your land thou shall bring into the house of The LORD your God. Thou shall not seethe a kid in his mothers milk. Behold I have sent an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way and to bring you to where I have prepared. Be aware of him and obey his voice, provoke him not, for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. But if thou shalt obey his voice and do all that I speak then I will be an enemy unto your enemies and an adversary unto thine adversaries. My Angel shall bring you unto Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and the Jebusites and I will cut them off. Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do their works but thou shall overthrow them and break down their images. You should serve the LORD your God, he shall bless thy bread, water and I shall take sickness away from thee. I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy akll the people to whom thou shalt come and I will make all your enemies turn their back unto thee. By little by little I will drive them out from before thee until thou be increased and inherit the land. They shall not dwell in thy land , lest they make you sin against me, for if you serve their gods it will surely be a snare unto thee.
