Final. Ive now been in the hospital for 3 months! Ive done hours and hours of physical therapy. Finally, they think Im healthy enough to send home, where wound care on both legs, my arms, hands and anywhere else I had open wounds. You see, I had streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (a rapidly progressing infection causing low blood pressure/shock and injury to organs such as the kidneys, liver and lungs). Approximately 60 percent with STSS die. I feel fortunate to able to tell my story. Im now in a wheelchair and my routine is sleeping in a hospital bed in the living room, going to physical therapy and dialysis 3 days a week and receiving wound care 7 days a week. To say the least, Ive been busy! So, we head to a regular doctors appointment to hear the news that I have Wet Gangrene in my right foot and am going back into the hospital, where they would remove my right leg, 3 left hand finger tips and all the toes on my left foot. When you are 23 with a new born and a 2 year old, the word AMPUTATION, is not what you want to hear. I now sit with wound vacs on both legs, must go for cleanings on the amputations several times per week and remain in the hospital until all wet gangrene is gone. I hoped this trip to the hospital would never happen, but it did. I make slow progress, as my kidneys are still failing, but at last the wound vacs come off, my amputations are stitched closed and I am finally heading back home to my family, after 5 months. I am being put on the Kidney Transplant List, but I know God has one more miracle in store for me. I cannot begin to thank the Jones Community for hosting the Jones Jam. The out pouring of support I have received has been such a blessing to me and to my family. Thanks does not describe what I feel in my heart for all that everyone has done and I am going to try to stay healthy enough to be in Jones Town on September 27th with all of you. Thank you again!
