Folk Art no machined honed words nor lathe turned phrases not even grammar perfected lines these will be rather rough unkempt at the edges slanted to local dialect they will not take any trips to far off lands name drop cities like Istanbul or Bangkok or describe the Pyramid stones not even rave about tea at some swanky Belgium café they will not hide behind gilded veneers of polished sheen quote Shakespeare’s Hamlet or give lessons in mythology of Zeus’s offspring, Grecian style nor will they emerge from ivied walls in wordings only ivy knows no, they will be edge unkempt slanted to local dialect ones not shaped from workshops or festooned with sheepskin flags ribbons will be for the ladies hair not wall trophies for ego driven they will be folk art- unadorned with the trappings of celebrity and as such they will be rough around the edges though the real beauty will lie in simple lines that speak of life and death of toils of common man of understandings of not understanding of living simply life in their own dialects they will be stain finished with local colors quite bold where nails may rust through and dovetails might not tightly fit they will be functional and useful and in the end tell their stories for those who come later to view and appreciate the value of folk art
