Footy Photos Day 75 - Missing men Both my pictures were taken in the 1998-99 season. With Manchester United taking on Liverpool today in the Premier League, my thoughts surround these major clubs missing men. How United could do with a Roy Keane-like figurehead in their midfield (Keane is on the left in my grainy black & white image). I remember how Keane imposed himself with his drive and passion on many a match, most famously when United were two down at Juventus in the 1999 European Champions League semi-final second leg, scoring the first in Uniteds comeback to win 3-2. And how Liverpool could do with a great defender like Jamie Carragher (the young player in red), whose positional sense and solid defending were the cornerstone of Liverpools rearguard until he retired last season. Maybe if these key players can be replaced, the top honours can be won again by these two great clubs in English football.
