Fox Sports North did something very cool this evening.....replaying the telecast of the 1965 All-Star baseball game from Met Stadium (you know it now as Mall of America). Amazing to see an all-star game played in daylight, getting to see Sam McDowell, Bob Gibson and Don Drysdale pitch, Roberto Clemente in uniform, Harmon Killebrew swat a home run, Tony Oliva hit, Max Alvis play (I saw his son play for the Waterloo Indians later), Met Stadium and what I thought was the coolest on-deck and around-the-plate area back then plus Pete Rose in action. They didnt need a soliloquy from Bob Costas to make it an official telecast, they likely didnt have a bunch of babies bawling because they didnt get to play. We got to hear a younger Jack Buck and Joe Garagiola. This has been fun.
