GST basically is a way of collecting tax from everybody living in the country instead of from a few. More than 70% of population dont pay tax, and those who earn RM4000 a month or less now are exempted from paying a single cent of tax. GST is a broad tax system accepted throughout the world. Each and everyone of us must contribute a bit to the coffer of the country. But the govt is mindful of the burden caused to the poorer segment of the population, hence waives taxes on all the essential food items. Thats a considerate move. GST is a good system. I am sure opposition leaders know about this. So spare the instigations ok. What u should be worried about is how prudent the govt is using all the monies collected from the people. Like a clock costing RM3800, and spending money like there is no tomorrow, especially money belonging to the Agong. Both govt and opposition parties should fight to introduce a syllabus on financial management to be used right from lower secondary schools, so that students are indoctrinated from day one the value of money, especially money belonging to others. As long as they dont appreciate the value of money, no matter how wealthy Malaysia is, we will forever be poor. Keep this in mind, and stop telling people that GST is evil.
