Good Tuesday Morning. Here are todays Fast 5 Headlines ! 1. Its looking good in the fight against zebra mussels. A unique experiment has apparently halted the invasion in one of the provinces harbours. Co-ordinator of the treatment, Rob Nedotiafko says Winnipeg Beach harbour was sealed off with a silt curtain and pumped through with liquid potash until it reached a lethal concentration for the mussels. He says thats one harbour down, and now 3 to go. 2. Shes baaacckkk! As we reported on the weekend, Judy Wasylycia-Leis is running for Mayor again. She filed her papers yesterday, and will join Charles Adler and Richard Cloutier at 9 a.m. on 680 CJOB, to discuss her candidacy. 3. Some yoga devotees are a little bent out of shape....over taxes. The Washington, D.C. City Council is considering a tax on yoga classes and gym memberships. The proposal would subject those working up a sweat to sales taxes. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson says he doesnt expect the council to scale back the measure. And, he adds the yoga tax is part of a package of reforms that would reduce taxes on the average D.C. resident. But, opponents are ready to take the yoga tax to the mat. Theyve now started a Facebook group called Say NO to DC Gym Tax. 4. MKO Chief, David Harper, has announced that 30 First Nation Communities will be getting AEDs, or Automated External Defibrillators. The life saving medical devices are a direct result of MKO, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Manitoba Health and Health Canada coming together to pro-actively improve health services in communities. 5. Finally today....And its the 50 million dollar windfall that almost got away. A Toronto area couple has picked up their cheque from the January 17th Lotto Max draw after losing the winning ticket just a day before they were going to pick up the prize. Hakeem Nosiru had duct-taped the ticket to the inside of his wifes purse for safekeeping, but, they found it was missing after they attended church. That, of course sparked a frantic search of their Brampton, Ontario home with garbage bins emptied and garbage gone through piece by piece. Nosiru and his wife say after finding nothing they felt miserable. But, despair turned to joy after someone from their church found the ticket and reunited it with them on April 1st. The couple picked up their cheque yesterday and say they now plan to travel the world and help out their family. Back to sunshine today everyone ! Enjoy !
