Its Friday the 21st of March 2014. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Heres your Northern Queensland weather forecast: Warning Summary: Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Tully. The following Watches/Warnings are current: MODERATE FLOOD WARNING FOR THE GEORGINA RIVER AND EYRE CREEK MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE TULLY RIVER Weather Situation: A large high in the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. The high will slip to the southeast of New Zealand during today, gradually relaxing the ridge. A slow moving surface trough extends from the northwest of the state into the southern interior. An upper level trough will move east over southeastern Queensland today. A weak tropical low (Ex-Tropical Cyclone Hadi) lies over the northwestern Coral Sea and is expected to shift west over Cape York Peninsula during today and through the northern Gulf of Carpentaria during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Friday: Frequent showers and isolated thunderstorms about east coast districts north of about Yeppoon, increasing to rain at times with some locally heavy falls likely. Scattered showers and thunderstorms through the remaining tropics and developing through the central interior and Gulf Country. Isolated showers to scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over southeast districts. Isolated showers and thunderstorms through the southern interior, mostly south and west of Charleville. Mostly fine over remaining parts of the state, only some isolated showers.
