Haider. 5 stars This movie has to be Vishal Bharadwajs best work till date. An adaptation of Hamlet, Haider is one of the best written and well made films revolving around a dark revenge story with political drama serving as a backdrop on the sensitive topic of Kashmir. The film at 162 minutes, doesnt feel a a bit stretched as the director tends to all the minute details very carefully. Every scene and every dialogue in it that comes out of a characters mouth are of gold standard. This movie will be a turning point in Shahid Kapoors career as he delivers a stellar performance, showing how good an actor he is unleashing his full potential. He is the shining light in the movie and you just cannot stop praising him throughout the movie. Tabu and Kay Kay Menon, other 2 fantastic actors who play pivotal roles are a treat to watch. Tabu playing the role of Shahids mother shows different shades of a woman and she plays it with perfection, i cannot think of anyone who can play this difficult role to this perfection. Kay Kay Menon, time and again he proves why he is considered such a brilliant actor, hats off to him again. Irrfan Khan plays a cameo and rather an important role, i was very happy to see whistling and hooting in the theatre from everyone upon his entrance, the kind of reception you only get for a certain Srk or Salman. The dark, gritty story line enchants you and never allows you to blink your eyes. The climax is one of the highlights and is shot brilliantly and in the end all you can do is bathe in the awe of this modern gem and a masterpiece that has been made. Hats off to everybody associated with this film. A must must watch.
