Handling Obstacles and Setbacks Yesterday I spent four hours - TopicsExpress

Handling Obstacles and Setbacks Yesterday I spent four hours with a friend who is building a huge business empire. He routinely has to deal with countless obstacles and setbacks, and yet he isnt eaten up by worry. How is that possible? He reminds me of Joshua. Joshua also had to deal with seemingly endless obstacles and setbacks over several years to take possession of the land promised to him and his people. Yet he wasnt worried. We too have countless obstacles and setbacks, dont we? We sure have them at Man in the Mirror. I sure do personally. Why didnt Joshua worry? And what can we learn from him? In Joshuas worldview, he was not responsible for the outcome. Thats the difference. He believed his job was to be faithful, not to produce a particular outcome. He expected opposition and setbacks. But since he was working on what God had called him to do, he trusted God to produce whatever outcome God wanted. Thats how my friend is living his life too. He prays, and then obeys. Our job is to be faithful, not to produce a particular outcome. If you think the outcome depends on you, you should be worried! Of course, none of this will work unless we will be satisfied with Gods outcome.
