He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. ~ Revelation 21:4 ~ Like many, I feel a flood of so many so many different emotions, most of which words cannot explain. They are feelings of fear, anger, utmost sadness and grief, pain, anxiety, and confusion. This morning, waking from what would about 2 hours of sleep, I went to let the dog out (I realize no big deal). As I opened the door I felt the cold breeze on my face and the bright sun warming my skin...and I simply stopped and sat down. I felt a rush of calm, although maybe only for a moment, that calmed my anxious heart. In that moment I prayed, first thanking God that through all the violence human lives were spared. I was safe, Amanda and the boys were safe, people all around St. Louis are safe. In that moment the Holy Spirit showed me that we have all been given another day...a day to be witnesses of the amazing love and grace thats comes only from our God. Our God is a gracious and merciful God! I ask simply for prayers...for hurting and grieving families, for a community in ruin, for pastors and all Christians that they hear Gods unique calling in their lives, for first responders, and for those who we simply hold in our hearts...for I know there are so many more that need our prayers. As I look at what will be almost 4 years of ministry at Grace Chapel, I could never have imagined the things that we as a church have worked and ministered through...I dont need to name them. But one thing has always prevailed...Christ and His overwhelming love and care for his people. I am truly humbled that the Lord has called me to go...serve...love. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. ~ Deuteronomy 31:6 ~ + In His Grip +
