Hello BBIRT members! What does BBIRT stand for? Its the Bully-Behavior Incident Reporting Tool! This is a new program that started in South Washington County, Minnesota (ISD 833) and is designed to: - Reduce the occurrence of bullying throughout schools beginning in Minnesota; - Provide for more timely and accurate bullying incident reporting; - Immediately inform and connect relevant agencies with oversight of such incidents; - Hold school administration accountable to quickly and effectively respond to bullying incidents through a case management reporting component, and - Provide transparency that drives down bullying incidents while ensuring the right supports are provided for both victim and bully alike. October is Bully Prevention Month across the USA. With a few more days remaining in October, I wanted to tell you that CNN will host an iReport roundtable on Bullying prevention on Tuesday, October 29, 2:00 PM (3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time). This Google Hangout will be an open online forum for interesting individuals with questions and stories to share. See the link to the CNN page at the bottom of this post. As this is the first entry of this Facebook page, I want to let students know that I know what it feels like to be bullied. My journey through that difficult series of experiences was no picnic, but I was able to make it through it to see better days. When things seem hopeless and no relief is in sight, remember there is someone who can be there to listen. Dont think you are alone...youre not alone. If all else fails, reach out to others on this site. The BBIRT Facebook page is a resource for young people struggling with bullying.
