Hello everyone, Im the responsible (& illustrator) for the project Fingeralphabet.org. It has the very humble aim to provide basic sign alphabet charts for every country worldwide. For free download. Currently working with some PeaceCorps volunteers on charts for African countries, which will also be included into the free program from worldreader.org I know the alphabet is VERY simple and most countries would need so much more. But as one single person – and professional concept artist – I thought that it would help many schools, families and organisations to have a place to download free, high quality material. It is also a very nice entry point for hearing people – even though it cannot replace sign language. it is a little easy bridge to start a conversation. I have had a lot of organisations here in Germany make flyers out of the material and the feedback apparently was excellent. The most difficult for me is to find expert consultants to work with in the various countries. It is important because I might be a great illustrator of hands, but I am NOT an expert on all the alphabets around. I try to work with universities where possible – because of the recognition and acceptance – I always need at least two thumbs up and I am constantly looking for contacts so I can put up more free material. fingeralphabet.org/category/downloadable The website is in English. But there is a orientation system via the national flags. For transparency purpose: The project is financed privately and by providing commercial licenses for companies and magazines to use illustrations in articles or suchlike. AND I am trying to set up merchandising now – stuff I hope people might need. BUT the main point, the alphabet charts for private people, schools, churches, organisations for the DEAF etc. are 100% free. There are several color schemes to chose from and always new material coming up. I am currently working on about 30 different national charts. It is a very slow process. If YOUR country is not in the list, and you have a position to function as an expert consultant, or if you know someone who coult, PLEASE contact me so we can get the material up for your country.
