Here are a couple before and after edits of my photos. I use post processing to whatever extent makes sense for what I have envisioned at capture. This includes minor exposure adjustments, shadow/highlight recovery, sharpening and noise reduction, fine tuning of white balance. Creating drama in a photo is what I aim for, so I like to be selective with my tonal contrast. For example, in the first one, I added exposure and clarity only to parts of the photo I want to stand out, so the photo reads better. Same with the second, keeping the focus on the bridge and leaves. I also added a blue gradient on the second one in the sky to create a color contrast between the foreground and background, something else that creates drama. Software: Lightroom 5 for 99% of my workflow. I also use Topaz Adjust to add a slight finishing touch.
