Here is a summary from one of our members who was in Annapolis earlier this week. We at RA would like to thank Graig for sharing this with us! Summary of Annapolis Rally On Monday, there was a rally on Annapolis regarding the new gun control laws set forth in MD. Pro Gun advocates attempted to soften the blow of the new gun laws that become effective on October 1st, 2013. Back in February when they first proposed SB281, there were massive rallies held against the new laws, and never before in the history of the state of Maryland had there been such turnouts for these rallies, however even with the phenomenal turnout, and hours upon hours of pro gun testimony, our elected officials chose to ignore us. On Monday, it happened again. Never before, in the state of Maryland, had there been anyone to show up and speak at a "regulation" hearing, but we did, and we did so in mass. This, being such an important topic, and after being ignored the first time, people swarmed the state circle in Annapolis just to be heard, to be seen, and to be recognized. Once again, our elected officials have ignored us. In my opinion, it just goes to show a government running wild. They are not representing the people, they are doing what they want with no concern or respect of our wishes. The new laws do not affect criminals. Who is going to go to a range to make sure they know how to pull a trigger, when they are robbing someone? Criminals follow no laws, never have, never will, this is why they are criminals. Delegate Smigiel had an amendment in the original bill that would have made sure anyone committing a crime with a firearm would be punished to the FULL extent of the law, and what happened? IT PASSED! Once it did, the chairman of the house after having an immediate closed door meeting DURING the hearing, called a re-vote, and guess what? IT FAILED!! Why do they want to punish law abiding citizens and not criminals? The new laws MAKE law abiding citizens criminals if they choose to stand up for their 2nd Amendment rights, and SLAVES if they do not. Time to wake up, America.
